My betta fish...is he sick?!?
Today i cleaned some of the water out of my betta's tank. he lives in a two gallon aquarium. it is heated and filtered. the tank is kept at a constant 78 degrees farenheit. i put him in an alternate bowl for approx. 30minutes. when i took a closer look at him after putting him in the bowl, i noticed he had a white spot on his head. almost like something had bitten his head. he lives by himself, so i knew that couldn't happen... i know it is not ick, as i have owned fish before. it doesnt look cottony or stringy. he is still eating and swimming and he still has his full color. i also haven't noticed any fin loss or discoloration. i've had him approx. a year.is it possible he could have scraped some of his scales off on something in the tank? its decorated with an aquarium rock that he can swim into and plants.i would really like to know what the white spot could be...help?
Thanks. So im guessing its (hopefully) nothing serious?
It doesn't sound like anything serious. A betta of mine has the same thing. I would keep an eye on it just to be safe and be ready to buy medication if needed. Just make sure it doesn't spread or start looking cottony.
And good job on taking such good care of your betta and giving him such a nice home!
