Gas boiler versus immersion heater?
Could you please list the pros and cons of heating your tap water with an immersion heater as opposed to your central heating gas boiler (assuming you have both installed). How do the costs compare here in the U.K. nowadays? Thanks
I'm using an old gas boiler which heats the water in the tank in the airing cupboard ( also the central heating of course). And I'm am thinking of getting an immersion heater as the main tap water heater, or as a standby tap water heater in case the gas boiler becomes unrepairable in the middle of the winter !
Normally Gas is the cheapest option the easiest way to compare this is to see how much a gas unit costs and how much electric costs

This is taken off money supermarket as you can see gas is 6p elec is 11p
so in the long run gas is 1/2 as far as you possible use gas only for emergency electric
