what does it mean when baby formula turns brown?
I was at my mother in law's today and my 10 week old son ran out of formula milk. My wife had some backup formula in a plastic bag that she said was three weeks old and she made that up, but it came out brown instead of white. It didn't smell bad or spoiled it was just a different color. My son had less than an ounce of it and I poured it out as soon as I noticed it was a different color. Should we be concerned about his health or take him to a doctor? Was the formula no good? Has this ever happened to anyone else?
The vitamins and fats in it were oxidizing, most formula has a one month shelf date from the time you open the container - this was at the end. You don't need to worry, he's okay, but I would not use it again.
