Why is my bath mixer tap acting strangely...?

I'm in the UK and I have just replaced the washers on the mixer tap on my bath (I had a dripping tap).

Now some weird symptoms are occurring. The most annoying is that when I turn on the cold tap everything is OK until I get to a certain point and it suddenly turns back into a trickle. The water flow isn't restored until I turn the tap *completely* off and then on again.

Does anyone have any ideas? My only thought is that remnants of the old washer have found their way into the mixer part...

I would say that you are right, that a piece of old washer has got in to your tap! Good Luck!
