microwave exhaust fan does not suck air?
My microwave is 6 years old. The exhaust vent in my kitchenaid microwave KHMS145 will not take suck in air.
Therefore, smoke and humidity covers the front of microwave and cabinets above microwave instead of being sucked into exhaust. The motor make a noise so I know it is on. Vent over the microwave door is pushing air out but no air under microwave is being sucked in. I do not have an external duct.
How do I fix this myself? . Is there a part I should replac?.
I removed grease filter and charcoal filter and still not sucking in air. Is it a broken motor, diode, fuse? The motor that pushes the air out works fine.
Condo not allowed to put holes in outside wall for external duct. Anyway, this would not solve no-air-suction problem.
with out an external vent, you might as well give up. these type uf units are inferior to the cheapest of cheap vent hoods, with an external duct. If you are lucky enough to have a you kitchen back up to an outside wall with exterior siding, I'd say put one in. Same if you have a one story house. If not, these unit a a flap to recirculate air & or sen it outside. As yours is installed it is just filtering it thru the carbon filter...about as usefull as drinking carbon filtered salt water & expecting not to taste it! In the vent out position the recirculate hole is blocked & straight up hole is opened & attached to your vent pipe. Clean filters & throw away carbon filter.
