There are eBook readers popping up everywhere for different prices. Most of these readers make a lot of promises that they couldn't possible keep. Some providers have a history with readers, but they completely re-design them and so there is not real history available about how well the reader you are looking at will function.
The group at Endless Ideas have continually built upon their original reader, making each reader better. When customers have expressed a need for a feature, EI has done the research to include that feature in their latest version of Bebook. Therefore, the Neo has a ton of features that users have asked for.
The Freescale processor makes the browsing and operating speeds up to 2 1/2 times faster than other eReaders on the market. And, with the 3-hour battery, you get up to 7,000 page turns on one charge. It's got the six inch screen, as many of the readers do, but the E-Ink display allows you to read easily in direct sunlight.
There is a Wacom touchscreen so you can turn pages using the pick or the cool directional pad. This is one of the features that make the box special. You don't have a keyboard to deal with, just the same type of directional pad that is found on a i-Pod.
The memory features on the reader include a 512mb basic memory and a micro SD card slot with up to 16gb of memory. There is also a USB port and 3.5mm headset jack. The headset jack is very cool because the system has a Text2Speech feature that allows you to listen to your books if you are in a place where reading is not going to work. The BoBook Neo supports many popular eBook formats such as: EPUB, PDF, TXT, HTML, RTF, MOBI, CHM, PDB, JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP and TIFF.
With Wifi connectivity, you can use google and Wikipedia easily and, unlike most readers, you can access eBooks easily. There is a global map app that allows you to select eBook providers in any country in the world. Just go to the country and you can find all of the eBook providers in that country. Instead of having to search for the best prices on books, you can find books and prices within a few minutes using this app. However it is difficult to compete with advanced handheld readers like Sony Reader or Kindle-2. As it is noted in the article "Amazon Offer Kindle for Sale in Europe - Will they Succeed", the electronic libraries available to Kindle users are vast, with Amazon offering over 200,000 titles in the English language, and publishers such as Penguin, HarperCollins and Faber and Faber signing up to offer Kindle-compatible titles (Digital Book Readers). To date only US newspapers and magazines are available, but it should not be long before the top UK and European newspapers are added to the list.
Conclusion
The BeBook Neo E-Reader has many similarities to other readers, however, the differences that set it apart are spectacular. One of the cons that was found regarding this system is that the touchscreen cannot be swiped. For a person who likes to turn pages with their finger, the system will not be as enjoyable as a swipeable reader. For most people though, the ability to use the directional pad and read using one hand makes this a non-issue.
