Any laws being broken here?
I recently noticed that all .exe files on my jump drive are being auto deleted by school computers on jump drive plug in. Nowhere in the school's policies does it imply automated deletion and all of my portable applications are being destroyed for no reason. So far Firefox, Blender, Thumbscrew and USBDriveEjector have been affected. I don't use this jump drive anywhere outside of school so could the school actually be breaking any laws for this? Seems to be a serious violation by deleting files without any proper warning.
You agree to the school's computer policy in order to use the computers. You'd have to read it, but in short, they usually say they can do whatever they want or restrict whatever they want as they see fit.
Now you just need to learn to bypass it by archiving the files or fooling the auto-deletion thing, unless there is a feature in the drive to make it read-only.
No laws are being broken, their computers, their computer policy, their rules.
Of course if this is taking place at the college level, it's just dumb though. Also I think your schools network admin's are probably overprotective.
